'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' Mapped: Walking the Beat with Benson and Stabler

Features | Jun 16, 2012

NBC released its fall prime-time line-up this month. While the season's hottest new offerings may be Olympic games coverage or the return of "Sunday Night Football," new episodes of "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" are also guaranteed to deliver high ratings.

The first season of "SVU" — which follows New York City Police Department detectives who investigate sexually based crimes — aired in September 1999. The two-hour premiere of Season 14 airs on Sept. 26.

Given the release of the fall schedule and the fact that the WNYC mapping team was looking for another New York City television show to work on — please see our previous "Mad Men" and "Girls" maps — we decided to map out city spots seen and heard in "SVU" after a Reddit poster made the suggestion.

Check out the "SVU" map to see where Detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Sergeant John Munch (Richard Belzer), Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T) and the gang have been around town. Also, let us know if you live on a block where the show has been filmed or if you've worked on the series in its 13 years in business.

The information comes from the unofficial Law & Order wiki, which we organized and put into this table. The fictional addresses given in the show are plotted as approximations, and some of the addresses weren't specific enough to be mapped.
